Encharter Insurance - Lexington
Encharter Insurance - Lexington, previously known as MacNeil Insurance, was established by John MacNeil in 1939 to serve the insurance needs in Lexington and the neighboring communities. In 1966, the agency was purchased by the Town Crier Group who then sold the agency to Daniel Lucas in 1981. In 2001 the agency was purchased by Plymouth Rock Assurance Corporation and merged into Neighborhood Insurance, LLC along with Blair, Cutting and Smith Agency in Amherst and W.G. Leavitt Agency in Stoneham and Wilmington. In 2006, the Neighborhood Insurance, LLC name was changed to Encharter Insurance Group. Previously located at 15 Depot Square, the agency was moved to Custance Place on Bedford Street in 2001 then back down into Lexington Center at 1666 Mass Ave. in 2005.
